A hotel for horses, with 850 very comfortable guest suites, is taking shape west of Sydney. Oh, and there’s accommodation for human guests too!

It is quite an undertaking by the Inglis thoroughbred horse sales people who know plenty about breeding and marketing very valuable race horses but are about to learn a bit about the hospitality business as well.

We’re helping them along by designing what we think will be a pretty smart 144-guestroom property teetering on the edge of Warwick Farm race course, complete with rooftop pool bar.

The vast auditorium which adjoins the hotel will be used for the renowned Inglis horse sales 32-days- a-year and it will be a full house with everyone from the humble strapper through to the odd billionaire sheik.

The rest of the year, the pace will be a less frenetic as the ordinary day-to- day business of running the Inglis Hotel falls to the experts at Accor who know a thing or two about hospitality but, I’m guessing, zilch about the gee gees!

I’m guessing this is a world first.
